The challenge
Award-winning Princess Yachts started working with Marine Resources in 2016 to recruit across all parts of the business including design roles of all levels, project management positions, and all skilled trades.
Results
Our team worked closely with Princess to recruit a range of both permanent and contract skilled trade roles across all business divisions. What started as ad-hoc placement briefs soon developed into a long-term relationship, with Marine Resources becoming a preferred supplier for a dedicated recruitment project which resulted in us successfully placing over 100 candidates across all areas of the organisation.

The challenge
Oyster Yachts came to Marine Resources as they quickly needed specialist knowledge and advice to recruit some key senior-level people into the business. Oyster were looking for experienced professionals who would actively drive a business strategy. The challenge for Marine Resources was to recruit a team of specialists to lead the development of the new purchasing processes and systems and develop relationships with suppliers, set up and establish new manufacturing sites, and grow the business.
Results
Marine Resources quickly got to work headhunting and sourcing potential candidates who could fill these specialist sector roles at a senior-level. Our Executives Team was successful in headhunting strong candidates and filling posts quickly with individuals who were able to make a significant impact across the multiple-site locations and expansion plans for Oyster.
The Head of Purchasing role was a key placement for Oyster – a critical role to help achieve their long-term ambitions. The candidate recruited was an extremely successful placement, with the individual recommending and setting up a new purchasing system and processes, and subsequently recruiting eight new team members through us.
The Composites Manager role was another key hire for Oyster as new manufacturing sites were being set up and established across the south coast. The successful candidate was able to innovate and drive the business forward, successfully achieving an industry-leading Lloyds Register accreditation status for Oyster’s ongoing manufacturing processes.
torqueedo
The challenge
Torqeedo, an international market-leading German manufacturer of electric marine engines, approached Marine Resources through a referral from another client with a unique challenge. Torqeedo tasked us with recruiting a senior regional sales manager to focus on their Asia market.
Results
Marine Resources successfully recruited an individual who was able to drive Torqeedo’s product offering and awareness across Asia in the leisure and commercial market. The role was truly niche – our team was tasked to headhunt individuals with a deep knowledge and understanding of the Asian business and culture, with the successful candidate having the confidence to successfully tender and win big commercial contracts.
“Marine Resources more than rose to the challenge. This was a very specific role, but the team listened to our brief and showed a deep appreciation of our needs; taking time to understand the role requirements and expertise, meaning they were able to shortlist a successful selection of candidates, from which we found the perfect fit.”
Marine Resources has been prompt and efficient in finding the right candidate for our position, following up throughout the whole process. We will solicit them again in the future
We’ve worked with Marine Resources for nearly 10 years, they have consistently been able to put forward quality candidates for the roles we resource and always show an understanding of our business and the industry. We will continue to use them for all our resourcing needs and would recommend them to businesses and role hunters alike
Our dealings with Marine Resources has extended now for many years. As our two companies, Allspars and Technical Marine Supplies have expanded and we have needed to find new key members of staff, James and his team have been our automatic go to recruitment company to find suitable candidates to join our team.
From the first phone call detailing our needs, we have always had great help throughout the process of selection, resulting in us finding some great new team members, that we would simply never have come across. As we continue to grow, we will be back for sure.
We enjoy working with Marine Resources and they fall in line with most of the Sunseeker values. They are a genuine bunch of people who are driven to fulfill our requirements in a respectful and innovative manner
I would most certainly recommend Marine Resources to my industry colleagues searching for top marine industry talent in the future
As a service provider our business is all about the people within it. Marine Resources have understood this fact and have delivered SMS quality personnel time after time, and have never failed to deliver on expectations.
RWD
The challenge
Leading superyacht design house, RWD wanted to work with a sole recruiter who demonstrated a wealth of specialist superyacht knowledge and experience. They appointed Marine Resources to undertake an exclusive 12-month project.
Results
The vacancies that RWD were looking to fill included a range of senior design roles – both interior and exterior – alongside project management positions. Our initial appointment of five positions soon increased to the continuous relationship we have today.
The specialist skills demonstrated by our team proved that we are effective and tenacious recruiters. We quickly gave the client confidence that we could actively search for very experienced designers from both within and, more crucially, outside the superyacht industry –- expanding the pool for finding exceptional talent.
SMS
The challenge
Marine Resources was appointed by The SMS Group, a national ship repair and marine engineering services specialist, that trades from 7 locations strategically located around the country, to specifically recruit for their varied contractor roles in both the commercial marine and defence sectors.
The recruitment challenge was to bolster their existing workforce by finding candidates capable of working across a number of their trades within UK shipyards for both commercial and defence customers. What started as a one-off requirement for niche skilled trade roles, quickly grew to an ongoing, long-standing, relationship, with new roles coming in weekly - from many locations across the country.
Results
Our team rose to the challenge by finding individuals with the relevant expertise from outside the traditional sector / resource pool, where we were able to successfully deliver previously hard-to-fill commercial shipbuilding / ship repair roles. By taking the time to build strong, trusted relationships with senior team members at The SMS Group, we are now looking to the future as we discuss new contracts for the months ahead.
