About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to focus on vessel electrical systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing detailed electrical drawing packages, including schematics, panel designs, and cable running schedules.
This role will play a key part in product improvement and value engineering projects, ensuring that current best practices are integrated into new designs and applied consistently across existing models.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Electrical Design Change Request (DCR) process.
  • Work to existing design standards for electrical systems.
  • Contribute to maintaining quality and consistency across the model range and manufacturing facilities.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Electrical Designer and Electrical Manager to meet deliverables and deadlines.
  • Manage design aspects of the external supply chain in partnership with Client Managers and Procurement.
  • Develop strong working relationships with Production teams, including Electrical, Engineering, and Joinery departments.
  • Deliver accurate and complete work packages to Production, aligned with the project schedule.
  • Define a clear and accurate scope of supply using the project’s Master Work List, guided by the Client Manager.
  • Attend development, production, and project meetings to track contract variations and production feedback.
  • Provide timely data to inform project and management reports.
  • Research technical specifications for appliances and components where required.
  • Create, update, and issue 2D electrical schematics and panel drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Develop contract-specific 2D CAD electrical information for production.
  • Produce cable running schedules based on manufacturing processes and installation requirements.
Requirements Knowledge:
  • Strong knowledge of marine AC and DC electrical systems, materials, and techniques.
  • Good understanding of electrical installation phases in small craft production.
  • Familiarity with yacht systems, including component location and installation requirements.
Skills:
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
Experience:
  • Experience with marine digital switching systems such as CZone.
  • Experience with marine lighting systems and system integration.
Qualifications:
  • A design-related degree/qualification or equivalent electrical design experience.
