This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Designer to contribute to the creation of cutting-edge marine products, from concept through to production.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing critical elements of luxury vessels, including exterior moulding, deck layouts, helms, fixtures, fittings, upholstery and overall vessel design.
You’ll collaborate with a talented team of engineers and designers, ensuring your work directly impacts the quality and performance of world-class products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Design Projects: Take ownership of new design projects, ensuring they align with the company’s vision for innovation, quality, and performance.
- Provide Technical Support: Offer technical assistance to production and sales teams, providing expert solutions to complex design challenges.
- Supplier Collaboration: Work with external suppliers to communicate technical requirements and ensure successful implementation of designs.
- Create & Manage Drawings: Produce detailed technical assembly and manufacturing drawings, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout the production process.
- Involvement in Testing: Participate in on-water testing to validate designs and refine them as needed. You'll be involved from the prototype phase through to pre-production testing.
- BOM Management: Take responsibility for managing and controlling the Bill of Materials (BOM), ensuring parts and materials are accurately specified.
- Education & Experience: A degree in Design or Engineering, with a minimum of two years’ experience in a design or engineering role. Experience in the marine or automotive sectors is highly advantageous.
- CAD Expertise: Advanced skills in 3D CAD (preferably NX), with a strong ability in surface modelling and design for manufacturing.
- Design Experience: Proven experience creating detailed exterior conceptual designs, both hand-drawn and digital, with an understanding of how to translate designs into manufacturable products.
- Composite Manufacturing: Experience designing parts and tools for composite manufacturing, with a strong understanding of production techniques and material properties.
- Project Leadership: A track record of managing design projects within multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring all design and production requirements are met.
- Marine Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with marine industry standards and manufacturing processes is a plus, including moulding techniques and laminate schedules.
