The Role
This is an opportunity to take ownership of composite structural design projects, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of naval architects, design engineers, stylists, and systems engineers. With a diverse and exciting portfolio of vessels, this role offers the chance to see your work through from concept to delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Structural design and analysis of advanced composite components.
- Producing engineering calculations and high-quality structural drawings.
- Staying up to date with the latest in FEA methods and composite analysis tools.
- Weight optimisation and continuous improvement of existing components.
- Collaborating with production teams to refine and develop manufacturable designs.
- Leading engineering projects from initial concept through to delivery.
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring junior team members.
- Producing clear and concise technical documentation and reports.
- BEng in Engineering, ideally with a focus on composites, naval architecture, or mechanical engineering.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in marine composite structural design, including familiarity with production methods.
- Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to produce clear technical drawings and communicate solutions effectively.
- Solid understanding of composite FEA tools and design software.
- MSc in composite materials or structural engineering.
