Mechanical / Electronic Design Engineer

This fast-growing technology business is looking for a Design Engineer, to work in an ever-evolving company as they launch new products and manage the growing demand for the exciting range of sailing technology. These technologies bring a whole new dynamic to the racing world, fine tuning that makes a real difference on the water.  

You will be responsible for running the custom design of a range of products, and will need a strong understanding of material selection, mechanical properties, FEA, and Strain.  
The Ideal candidate will have hands on experience in developing a product for manufacture and will thrive on complex multi-disciplinary challenges. You will be designing new products, managing product improvements, managing processes, costing, pricing guidance, and offering technical support in this varied and exciting position. 

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Custom design of product range 
  • Detailed design through to production 
  • Material selection and mechanical property competence 
  • 3D CAD design with e.g. Fusion360 or Solidworks 
  • Design for CNC and 3D printing, Knowledge of plastics injection moulding would be desirable 
  • Product improvement 
  • Process management 
  • Costing and pricing guidance lines 
  • Technical advice to key customers 
  • Product Testing 
  • Maintain relevant external technical documents, meet QC requirements and keep documents maintained. Experience with 6-sigma methods and tools. 
Requirements:  
  • Hands on experience in developing a product to manufacture.  
  • Thrive on complex multi-disciplinary challenges. 
  • Degree qualified (2.1 hons) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. 
  • A passion for engineering is essential, an interest in sailing is an advantage. 
  • Would suit a recent graduate with background in product development outside of a work environment, or a graduate with 2-3 years experience in a company developing similar products.
